TAT: the small jewel supporting so much good!
Why a jewel? Because I can do something for the others through my daily job that is the one to
create jewels in my company operating in the field of the precious jewellery since 1974.
In 2000 I created a feminine collection,
charming and easy to wear. Its peculiarity is in fact the elasticity; their core the spring;
The idea arrives from the memory of my youth when I used to wear elastic bands to support the stockings; from this inspiration
Jarretiere was born (Jarretiere that is the French name for garter).
"Honni soit qui mal y pense! - (which means, "shame upon him who thinks evil of it"):
this is the motto of The Most Noble Order of the Garter, an English order of chivalry with a history stretching back to medieval times;
today it is the world's oldest national order of knighthood in continuous existence. Its membership is extremely limited, consisting of
the Sovereign and not more than twenty-five full members, or Companions.
Only a jewel more feminine than a garter could be a great symbol of aggregation for bold, wide and noble-minded women supporting other women.
Therefore for my will and my friend's one Melita Capuano was born the Ordre des Femmes de la Jarretiere,
an international, feminine, no-profit association presented in the Capitol from the vice mayor of Rome Mariapia Garavaglia.
The great encounters of life have always a date: it was the 26th of November 2003. The national newspaper announced the 1st phase of
experimentation on man of a vaccine against the HIV/AIDS leaded by the researcher Barbara Ensoli,
director of the national AIDS centre of the Italian Superior Institute of Health.
The Order announced doctor Ensoli as the recipient of the International Jarretiere Award supporting she as a noble-minded woman and her
plan of life: the research, basic element to eradicate the AIDS pandemia.
This disease is present in each single nation in the world; it is a disease that seems far just because we want to avert it, but that upsets
according to estimates and serious problems of poverty that derives from it. In Africa 57% of the HIV infected population are women and the
most strongly hit by the virus are young people between 15 and 24 years, the greatest population of young people in history.
In some countries the HIV is decimating educators, teachers, nurses and the few doctors available. Whole countries risk to disappear.
But what kind of future could we have without them? Often ignorance and the fact we don't know entitle us to believe that the problem
doesn't concern us.
To be aware of a problem means to do something to solve it starting from ourselves, from our abilities.
TAT: TO AID TOGETHER
Solidarity means love, friendship, sharing. Each day of our life has a reason to live with the others; all together we can live longer!
Share your dream and you will realise it earlier!
Today the vaccine against AIDS of the Italian Superior Institute of Health leaded by
doctor Ensoli has reached its II phase of experimentation on man and the TAT jewel takes its inspiration from the shape of the protein
studied to realise the vaccine. In nature the Tat protein is a dimer, that is it has two faces, and looking at its design I have imagined
two little feet. The guys of an artistic school near Milan helped me to draw different interpretations of TAT; the final one is the simplest
and more concrete and reminds us to the shape of a little bean bringing life.
